Try standing on one foot and hold that position for a few seconds. Now do the same with your other leg. Chances are you are dominant to one side of your body. Next do the same with your eyes closed. It should be a little harder to maintain your balance. If you lose your balance quickly doing this basic balance test then maybe you should look into ways to improve your overall balance. One way of improving your balance is with a balance pad. A balance pad that is commonly used as a rehabilitation tool is one way to work and improve stability on your feet. These pads are made of soft foam and are easily available from online fitness stores for the home fitness market.

If you belong to a gym or fitness facility try using a BOSU. If you’re not familiar with this balance-training product than ask an instructor. Also get some guidance into how best to use this balance-training tool. Remember if those who think they have good balance may find it difficult at first to use the BOSU. Again like the balance pad one use would be simply stepping on it one foot at a time and stepping back off. Stepping on an unstable surface is going to challenging even with your eyes open.
