What’s new with young kids’ backpacks?  For starters, a new line of rugged yet playful backpacks by Stephen Joseph.   I had a chance to get my hands on some of their most popular toddler bags this week.  Let’s focus on my favorite of their lines: Stephen Joseph quilted backpacks.  These preschool packs have the same creative designs as SJ’s other backpacks, but with a soft quilted exterior.  The result is a cute backpack that has a sturdy build that can put up with whatever your child dishes out.   The “sea life” bag is a favorite, according to the toy sellers I interviewed.  The watery scene depicts a shark, a turtle, a dolphin and a star fish with happy smiles on their faces.  The blue color mirrors the ocean, creating a calming scene that kids may take comfort in.  A great choice for aspiring oceanographers!

The quilted series is popular because this company researches what children actually like in a backpack.  The overwhelming answer is “some unique personality!”  Stephen Joseph designs many original day bags, backpacks, and lunch boxes for children that zeroes in on their interests.   As parents can attest, this is a great way to let preschoolers broadcast their passions and make friends on the playground.
