The Brazilian Raintree Comes Straight from the Rainforest of Brazil
The Brazilian Raintree indoor bonsai tree, or the pithecellobium tortum, has a very delicate appearance, yet it is actually quite hardy and is very easy to grow and care for. If you’re a new bonsai grower, the Brazilian Raintree is a good choice to start with. This hardwood tree comes from the rainforests of Brazil, where it has lived for years. The Brazilian Raintree has small, light green compound leaves. These interesting leaves actually fold up during the night or when the bonsai is placed in low light, and then they unfurl in the morning. It’s somewhat unusual for a bonsai, which is why the Brazilian Raintree is so popular.
Growing an indoor bonsai tree is somewhat easier than growing an outdoor bonsai because you don’t have to worry about the elements, but that doesn’t mean your indoor bonsai don’t require maintenance and care. Watering your bonsai is very important, especially since their small root systems can’t hold a lot of water at once. It’s important that you don’t let the soil dry out completely, yet on the other hand, you don’t want to over water your bonsai. If you do, it may develop the root rot, which can kill a bonsai.
