The Perfect Flan Pan

Flan is an amazing Spanish dessert. It’s sort of like a cake, a bit like a heavy soufflé, and with a little bit of a crepe thrown in. There’s a great restaurant a few miles away that serves flan that we’ve all fallen in love with it. It quickly has become one of our favorite desserts. So when I located a flan recipe that didn’t seem that difficult I was very excited to try it out, but soon realized I didn’t have the right flan pan.

Traditionally I’m a big believer in using what you have. Cake recipes that call for square pans can be cooked in round pans, et cetera. I often find most cake and tart pans can be used for a variety of desserts and dishes. But flan is a little different. Much like you need a good a good spring form pan to bake a successful angel food cake, you need a perfect flan pan to make a great flan. That’s why I was happy to find a perfect flan pan at such a reasonable price. It’s very attractive, and the fact it comes in two pieces makes it very easy to work with for beginning flan makers. You’ll find great flan is just a simple kitchen experiment away once you acquire a perfect flan pan!
